Anyhow, people often call me Aqua. I'm not a minor and I'm queer. I know more than one language.

My ex-fandoms are: ATLA, Teen Titans, Pokemon, and Homestuck. Current fandom (since 2016) is Transformers.

So I mentioned to hipsofsteel about perhaps doing a TFA Ender's Game AU with Optimus as Ender. Now while Ender's game was my favourite book ever when I read it as a 7 year old, I knew even back then that there was something off about it with how it treated certain characters. I now know that that 'offness' was the misogyny and antisemitism. Also all the forced Protestantism imagery that made me confused.
Dealing with that kind of work when adapting its plot into a fic would be a complicated, perhaps impossible, surgery. Especially perhaps with Ender's teacher at the end. I'm not entirely sure how or if I even should attempt to poke at that. This book has already permeated into science fiction—it is really that good— so it's not like I would be exposing it any more than it already is, but the fucking nastiness in it cannot and should not be ignored.
I would need to do a lot of research, making sure I caught whatever I could of the foul elements so I can have that fucking plot twist with poor OP, and then with his discovery with the buggers. I know I'll be able to replace whatever little worldbuilding tidbits associated with the 2 foul and 1 annoying things with TFA-based worldbuilding. But. I'll have to poke around at it.
